BIG NEWS from Safari Doctors: Expanding Our Reach in Garissa County!

Ms. Mariamu Abdalla ( Programs Manager, SD), Dr. Aden Hussein (CDH, garissa County), Mr. Albert Obbuyi (Deputy Director, SD) and Ms. Amina Mohamed (Programs Officer, SD)

We're excited to announce a groundbreaking partnership with the Garissa County Health Department! This collaboration aims to transform healthcare delivery in underserved communities through tailored solutions and community empowerment.

Our pilot program will focus on Jerirot and Bour-Algy villages in Garissa Township sub-county as early as June this year.

Together, we will:

  • Empower: Train and equip existing Community Health Workers (CHWs) and Youth Health Ambassadors (YHAs) to serve their communities.

  • Deliver: Conduct monthly mobile clinics with a focus on One Health, providing vital services and awareness programs to remote areas.

  • Improve: Collaborate on data collection and analysis to optimize our impact and ensure continuous improvement.

The Garissa County Health Department is thrilled with this initiative! They see it as a crucial step in addressing healthcare gaps in remote areas, particularly in immunization and antenatal care. By integrating multiple services, we aim to achieve a greater impact on those facing barriers to accessing medical facilities.

The selected team of CHWs and YHAs will undergo comprehensive training to equip them for their roles, while the county will provide government-procured medications and expert support for additional activities and data collection.

This partnership is a major milestone in our #journeyforchange, marking 10 years of impactful work. Together, we're taking a giant leap toward achieving #onehealth for all in Garissa County.

Stay tuned for updates on this exciting new chapter! #SafariDoctors #GarissaCounty #OneHealth #YouthHealthAmbassadors #10YearsOfImpact
