Empowering Change Through Health Promotion

Meet Zulekha Sheba, a 23-year-old changemaker from Tchundwa! As a Safari Doctors Youth Health Ambassador (YHA), Zulekha is using her knowledge and passion to empower her community with vital health information.

"My role as an ambassador allows me to champion health messages thanks to the training provided by Safari Doctors," Zulekha shares. Equipped with this valuable knowledge, she's educating others and making a real difference.

Zulekha is one of two YHAs recently stationed at the Tchundwa Medical Centre. This exciting development brings healthcare closer to remote villages on Pate Island.

Here's how Zulekha and her fellow YHA are creating impact:

  • Proactive identification: They actively seek out individuals in need of medical attention within the community.

  • Referral and guidance: They connect community members with appropriate healthcare services at the medical facility.

  • Health promotion champions: They lead educational sessions, raising awareness about critical health topics.

  • Basic healthcare provision: They've learned to conduct essential tests like blood sugar and blood pressure, offering initial aid.

Zulekha's story is a powerful example of how young people can be catalysts for positive change. By amplifying their voices and investing in their potential, we can build healthier communities for all.

Join us in celebrating Zulekha and all our incredible YHAs! Together, we can empower the next generation of healthcare leaders and ensure a brighter future for everyone.
